Organizational management

Since 2012, the organizational management has been in the hands of Martin Nieswandt, head of the Emsland music school.

Artistic Director

The artistic direction is in the hands of Professor Angela Firkins, Professor of Flute and Chamber Music at the Lübeck Academy of Music.

Flute

Prof. Angela Firkins

Professor of flute and chamber music at the Lübeck Academy of Music

Until 1996, she worked as principal flutist of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Hanover. She was the winner of the German Universities Competition and a prize winner of the German Music Competition.

As a member of the Albert Schweitzer Quintet, she is a prize winner of the ARD Competition and the German Music Competition. She performs chamber music and as a soloist both in Germany and abroad, has made CD and radio recordings, and teaches chamber music and masterclasses.

Oboe

Prof. Sergio Sánchez

Professor of Oboe at the Lübeck Academy of Music

Solo and chamber music activities with modern and historical oboes. Prize winner of, among others, the ARD Competition, the Gillet-Fox Competition, and the Barbirolli Competition. Engagements as solo oboist in Braunschweig and with the Augsburg Philharmonic, among others. Collaborations with ensembles such as Zefi ro, Concerto Farinelli, and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. Professor of oboe at the Lübeck Academy of Music since 2023.


Clarinet

Prof. Johannes Peitz

Professor of Clarinet at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.

At 23, he became principal clarinetist of the NDR Radio Philharmonic in Hanover, and three years later, principal clarinetist of the Bamberg Symphony (until 2000). He has performed chamber music with numerous ensembles (including Albert Schweitzer and Linos) and string quartets. He has appeared as a guest musician with many orchestras and is a regular member of the MITO Chamber Orchestra (Seij Ozawa) in Japan. His recordings have been released by EMI, Capriccio, CPO, and Edel.

Teaching activities in Weimar and Frankfurt, supervision of woodwind players at the orchestra academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, international course activities.

Horn

Prof. Christian-Friedrich Dallmann

Professor at the University of the Arts, Berlin

Until 2000, principal horn of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, member of the Bach Collegium Stuttgart and the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin. From 2000 to 2003, professor of horn at the Detmold University of Music; since 2004, professor at the Berlin University of the Arts; international solo engagements, courses and masterclasses in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, and Russia. Adjudicator for the German national competition "Jugend Musiziert" (Youth Makes Music), liaison instructor for the Young German Philharmonic, instructor for the German National Orchestra and the Israeli-Arab Divan Orchestra. Adjudicator for the German Music Competition and also for international horn competitions in Prague, Markneukirchen, and Brno.


Bassoon

Prof. Tobias Pelkner

Professor of Bassoon at the Detmold University of Music

Tobias Pelkner studied with Alfred Rinderspacher at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts. In 1992, he won first prize at the German Music Competition with the "Diaphonia Quintet," which led to numerous tours and radio recordings. From 1995 to 2009, he was principal bassoonist of the Stuttgart State Opera and guest principal bassoonist with numerous major German symphony and opera orchestras. In 2007, he was appointed professor of bassoon at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. Since 2008, Tobias Pelkner has been a professor at the Detmold University of Music.


Chamber music

Prof. Thomas Ludes

Professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen

Thomas Ludes (bassoon) studied at the Saarbrücken University of Music with Alfred Rinderspacher. Following his studies, he was engaged as principal bassoonist of the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra in 1983. He teaches with various orchestras in Bonn, the International Summer Academy for Chamber Music in Nordhorn, and the Young German Philharmonic. He is also the director of the wind ensemble at the Kreuzkirche Bonn and works closely with Gabriele Minz GmbH Berlin.

Tamami Toda-Schwarz

Tamami Toda-Schwarz, born in Tokyo, Japan, completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance in Stuttgart. Toda-Schwarz works as an accompanist for strings and woodwinds at the Lübeck Academy of Music. She continues to work regularly at various international masterclasses and festivals.

Yoko Yamada

Yoko Yamada studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and at the Lübeck Academy of Music, where she completed postgraduate studies in piano performance under Prof. Manfred Aust. She is a multiple prize winner of national and international competitions. Since 2012, she has worked as a vocal coach at the Lübeck Academy of Music and, since 2025, also at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, teaching several instrumental classes.

Stephan Kiefer

Stephan Kiefer is a pianist with the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and also works as a répétiteur at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. He studied with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling in Hanover and has performed worldwide with renowned partners and as a soloist at numerous festivals.

Akiko Nikami

Akiko Nikami is employed as a vocal coach at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she also completed her studies with Klaus Hellwig. She is a vocal coach for academy members of the Staatskapelle Berlin. She is in high demand as a chamber music partner and as an official accompanist at competitions, including the ARD/Markneukirchen, as well as at courses and auditions. Her duo CD "Air" with Tillmann Höfs won the OPUS Klassik award in 2019.

Atsuko Oba

Atsuko Oba currently works as a vocal coach at the Detmold University of Music, where she also successfully completed her studies with Jean-Effl at the Bavouzet. She also teaches at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.
